Lesson Sequence Week of August 5, 1996
Week Objective: The focus this week is on blocking – contact blocks,
avoidance blocks, and hand blocks. We will also review and reinforce
the back kick and back hook kick – for about 5-10 minutes a day.
Blocking concepts – The student will realize that good blocking is
good defense – always be well guarded and watch your opponent
carefully so they do not put themselves in danger.
Back kick – The student will understand the relationship of side kick
to back kick and the proper: stance, face turn (chin to shoulder),
straight kick, body turn, one piece movement, and adequate speed.
Back hook kick – the student will understand a straight turn, target
line is shoulder line, turn center of gravity – no bending or
swinging. Relate back hook kick to back kick and side kick.
