Lesson Sequence Week of July 1, 1996
New Procedure: We have made three (3) copies of the lesson sequence.
One says 4:00PM, 5:00PM, and 6:00PM. They are all the same. When you
teach a class, check off what you accomplish. There is space on the
bottom to add anything else you had to do.
Week Objective: Jumping kicks. Emphasize jumping high in the air,
proper stance-before and after the jump, and unified body.

Emphasize big jumps
* Basic exercises
* jumping high in the air.
Stand and do the following
– jump and reach as high as possible
– jump and tuck both feet under the body as you reach up
* then one step and the above-from one side then another
* end the class with kicking pads
Emphasize big jumps and posture
* Basic exercises
* review the jumps from Monday
* stand and jump kick-both sides
* one step and jump kick-both sides
* end class with kicking pads or patterns
Emphasize unified movement
and speed
* Basic exercises
* review jumps very quickly
* one step and kick -both sides
* one step and kick to a target -start soloplex then go higher
* end class with one step sparring all jump kicks
Side jump kick with unified movement
* Basic exercises
* review jumps with no target
* review one step and kick target
* Introduce jumping side kick
* Jumping side kick over the bar
Back jump kick
* Basic exercises
* Review jump and jumping side kick -relate to back kick
* jumping back kick
– start jump and turn
– then jump and kick low
– then from a bounce turn then turn and kick low and gradually higher
* end with one step using jump back kicks
