Master Tae Kwon Do Instructor

Lesson Sequence Week of June 17, 1996 This week we will practice for
the promotion on June 26, 1996.
Emphasize proper movements. Build punches to center of body, block
properly, proper posture, accuracy in offense and defense, correct
path of blocking and precise attacking.
If students are not doing a movement properly – have them do it
slowly, to the mirror, visualize it (visualize yourself as being
smoother, more powerful, etc.), and work cooperatively in pairs or
small groups. Another technique is to have them describe it on paper –
have white belts draw the steps would be effective. Consider showing
students the whole form, then have them follow you, so they get the
overall concept – then work on specific parts.
A great metacognitive technique is to have students tell you how they
will remember something. “How will you remember to turn to the left?”
4:00 PM – gradually decrease the time spent on basic movements and
increase it on forms and 3 step sparring. End the class with
something aerobic.
5:00 PM – Monday generally equal time in basics, forms, and 1 or 3
step sparring. Through the week, increase the time spent on forms and
1 or 3 step sparring.
6:00PM class – select forms and 1 step sparring as it meets the needs
of the group. Through the week, gradually decrease the amount of time
spent on forms and increase the amount of time spent on 1 step
sparring.
The percentages are only a rough guide.
